Prepping Your HVAC for Summer
Warm weather is finally in sight, and our team at Classic Aire Care couldn’t be more excited to soak up the sun. Although you may be ready for the upcoming warmer weather, is your air conditioning system? It’s been some time since you relied on your air conditioner to stay comfortable, so you’ll want to do the proper preparations in order to ensure your system is working as it should be. From HVAC repair in Clayton and surrounding areas to helping your plumbing system run smoothly, our skilled team at Classic Aire Care can handle it all.
Keep these tips in mind as we approach the official start of summer on June 20th.
Change the Filter
First and foremost, get rid of the old filter that was left in your air conditioning unit since last summer. Despite this being such an easy step, many people overlook its importance and its effectiveness. Simply remove the old filter and replace it with a new, clean filter. This will help the air better circulate throughout your home without having to push through a layer of dirt and debris. If you aren’t sure which type of filter is right for your system, we can provide you with this information. Make sure to keep up with regular filter changes to ensure your AC unit runs smoothly all summer long.
Clean the Condensation Lines
Another way to care for your AC system is by cleaning the condensation lines. This is the pipe that carries condensation away from your air conditioner and it can easily get clogged, especially if your system hasn’t run in quite some time. If you’re having a difficult time locating the condensation lines, please reach out to our team.
Remove Debris
Check the unit itself and see if debris has built up around the unit itself over the past several months. If the unit is located near a tree or other greenery, there’s a chance that it is surrounded by leaves, branches or other floating objects. Clear these things away so there aren’t any obstructions that block airflow out of your unit. Once the unit is clear, look at the concrete slab that it’s sitting on. The concrete slab should be level, otherwise, the unit will be working harder to keep your home cool. If the slab isn’t level, use a board to prop the unit up and push more gravel in the affected area to level it out.
Preparing your unit for the months ahead can help reduce the need for HVAC repair in Clayton and surrounding areas. Please contact our team at Classic Aire Care if you need assistance.
